Description: These tailors were products of Washington's philosophy on vocational training. The tools of the trade-scissors, rulers, and tape measures on the floor in front of the group and around three of the tailors' necks-emphasize the practical nature of their training, which prepared them to leave school and be economically self-sufficient.
