Match
Biography:

Paris-Match was launched in Paris in 1949 by publisher Jean Prouvost. Similar in content and format to LIFE, the weekly French-language magazine featured a blend of international news with entertainment, culture, and fashion. Under the guidance of editor Roger Thérond for fifty years, photography was a major focus of the magazine, as reflected by the slogan “"Le poids des mots, le choc des photos (The weight of words, the shock of images.)” Influenced by Robert Capa’s work, Paris-Match’s photographers sought and produced arresting images from dramatic world events. Paris-Match continues to be published weekly, and remains one of France’s most successful and influential magazines.
